12 million for research into atomic-scale components
With a donation of 12M CHF the Werner Siemens Stiftung will support a newly founded Centre for Single-Atom Electronics and Photonics at ETH Zurich in Switzerland and KIT in Germany.

On the ETH side, Prof Jürg Leuthold from the Institute of Electromagnetic Fields and Prof. Mathieu Luisier from the Integrated Systems Laboratory will be in charge of fabricating and modeling single-atom devices/systems, respectively.
